I’m excited to see 2 new shows added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017: The Inhumans and The Defenders.
Little information is known about the show The Inhumans, but we know it will focus on the royal family of the altered beings known as Inhumans. Inhumans were first introduced into the MCU in the 2nd season of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD as a small population of human beings who transform into beings with powers, and sometimes completely change physically, through a process called Terrigenesis. The Inhumans will premiere in September, with the first 2 episodes to be released in IMAX theaters on September 1st. The remaining 6 episodes will air on the ABC network.
The Defenders is the culmination of Marvel’s 4 Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The Defenders will be to the Netflix shows what Marvel’s The Avengers was to the films. The show will feature familiar characters from the other Netflix/Marvel shows and will also feature Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Ghostbusters) as the main villain. The Defenders is scheduled to be released on August 18th, 2017 on Netflix.
