Benedict Cumberbatch will play Marvel character Doctor Strange

Marvel.com has recently announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will play Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 movie with the same title.  Apparently he beat out Johnny Depp, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jared Leto. So just who is benedict Cumberbatch?  He is a British actor that has been in many television shows and movies. He is probably best known for playing Sherlock Holmes in the BBC miniseries Sherlock.  This is how I originally learned about him anyway.  By the way,...

The MCU and Me.

11/19/14 Let me begin by getting this out of the way: I am going to be discussing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). I will base my thoughts and words on the history and backstory laid out in the MCU, that includes movies and television. I may use the comic book history just as a point of reference for things we have not been fully informed on. The opinions and speculation herein are just the thoughts of an avid fan. Yours...

Batman VS Bruce Lee

Here's how a recent conversation went: Pauly: Batman does not believe in killing or guns, but he is the pinnacle of human training, physically and mentally.  He is the ultimate human in almost every respect, so he may not have powers, but he has realized human potential.  Batman can defeat any other normal human. Me: I bet Bruce Lee could kick his a$$.  Mano Y Mano So it got me to thinking.  What if the two Bruce’s were to get...

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999)

There’s been a lot of negativity regarding George Lucas’s prequel trilogy.  I think a lot of that is due to high expectations.  I liked all three movies, not as much as the original trilogy, but they held their own.  A lot of the talk of Episode One was the quality of the story.  I don’t get it though.  If you remember, when you first start a story you have to establish characters and give a hint of where we're going...

The Dark Night (2008)

The whole “comic-book movie” genre was redefined in 2008 with the release of The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins.  Not only this more dramatic and compelling than most comic book movies, it’s just plain better.  I wouldn’t classify it as a comic-book movie, but as a crime thriller featuring comic book characters.  I’ve always been more of a Marvel Comics fan, but DC Comics takes the cake as far as movies go with this one. Christian bale reprises...

Iron Man (2008)

This is one of the best movies of 2008. Dare I say it's in the top 3? I do. Once marvel got control of its own material, the movies could have gone in one of two directions: horrible or brilliant. This is a sign that the future of Marvel movies will be brilliant. The writing, the directing, the story and the acting are all great in this film. However, the best part of the character and franchise, the part that...
